- ABS
Anti-lock Brake System: helps to prevent wheel lock up during hard braking or during braking on uneven or other poor surfaces while running straight. Distinguishable from the later ABS2 models by it's "smooth" front mudguard. Note that ABS is an optional feature.
- ABS2
Used on this site as a shorthand to refer to the ABS+TCS+CBS of model year 1996 and later. It features a "beefed up" ABS, and CBS (not present on pre 1996 models). Recognizable by a wider front mudguard with the characteristic side "dents".
- TCS
- Traction Control System: assists in maintaining traction while accelerating on slippery surfaces by regulating the engine's power output when it senses the rear wheel starting to lose traction.
- CBS
- Combined Braking System: Operating the front brake lever applies the front brake and a portion of the rear brake. Operating the rear brake pedal applies the rear brake and a portion of the front brake.
